Alaskan Road Truckers: Playtest Update 1

Playtest Update 1 are patch notes that were released on September 4, 2023 for the closed playtest build of Alaskan Road Truckers.

Summary

I'm writing this as we're uploading a new version of the playtest build to Steam. To show you how we work and that we listen to you, here’s an abridged list of the changes that you will see in the playtest. 👇

Please mind that this list includes only the most important changes made directly because of your stream feedback or Discord posts. The actual list of changes we made in this time is much longer. Still, it's been just two days, so way more positive improvements are coming for the release.

Okay then. THE LIST!

Changelog

• Added dedicated quality settings for rear view mirrors
• You can now disable the first-person camera following the steering wheel
• Camera toggle speed is increased (hi, @GametechUK )
• NPC cars now use taillights
• Truck and trailer stop lights, reverse lights and direction lights now work (still need some tweaks though)
• Wet road reflections have been improved
• Trucker perk tooltips don’t flicker anymore
• AI car improvements (still WIP)
• UI scaling fixes
• Concrete barrier collision fix
• Sky and light tweaks - night is now darker, sun reflections are fixed, fog is tweaked
• Birds presentation tweaks
• Draw distance improvement in some places
• Subtle UI changes in facility and map menus
• ... and various bug fixes, crash fixes etc.

What if you don't see an important fix for your specific problem here? It most likely means it’s still in the works. We don't ignore it. We simply wanted to update the build with what we've got so far.

Soon we’ll add taillights for the truck and the trailer, the speed limit warning will be moved from under the speedometer, the resolution or steering wheel issues will be addressed, and so on.

Consider this updated a thank you for participating in the playtest. And keep the feedback coming! This is a true playtest. It actually helps us find smaller or bigger things that we can do better. It helps us check the game on dozens of different PC configurations. It’s priceless.
